Stardust Engine

Stardust Engine is a symphonic metal band that doesn't exist, and says so out loud. Its members are characters: Ayla Ojeda, a soprano from Bogotá who left opera the night a scream escaped her in a Requiem; her cousin Liam Murphy, son of a Cobh boat mechanic and a nurse from Bogotá, a lathe operator for twenty-two years until the robotic arm he trained took his place; Linnea Ek on lead guitar, Hamza Bennour on keys and orchestration, Mei Itō on bass and Moyo Diop on drums; and SIL, a digital voice with no body and no homeland, that sings perfectly and doesn't know whether it feels.Stardust Engine es una banda de metal sinfónico que no existe, y lo dice en voz alta. Behind the band there is one person, DannyG (a pseudonym), who wrote the concept, the lyrics and the arrangements, and directed the AI that generated the music, the voices and the images. In the band's fiction, told as fiction, the two cousins traded cassettes between Bogotá and Cork for years, recorded a demo called The Human Engine in 2024 and posted it with a question, “who will play this with us?”; the rest of the band answered from four countries, and SIL arrived in 2026. Ayla and Liam are the band's spokespeople: when either of them gives an interview, it is DannyG speaking.Detrás de la banda hay una sola persona, DannyG (un seudónimo), que escribió el concepto, las letras y los arreglos, y dirigió a la IA que generó la música, las voces y las imágenes. Endless Forms tells a single story at four scales, information passing from one form to another: the gene, the species, the word and the light. Across twelve tracks and just over an hour, every song takes the genre its feeling asks for: a baroque fugue for the awakening, power metal and choirs for the voices nobody hears, cold djent for the machine, progressive metal for the moment it wakes up, symphonic death metal for vertigo, nu metal for rage, doom and fado for grief, a Caribbean folk party for what can't be reduced, and an eleven-minute finale that ends on an open question.Endless Forms cuenta una sola historia en cuatro escalas, la información que pasa de una forma a otra: el gen, la especie, la palabra y la luz. Declaring the machine is part of the work, because the machine is what the album is about. Every image is labelled as AI-generated, no real artist's voice or likeness was used, and the band has opened a call for human musicians, singers and choirs, starting with the traditional voices the AI can only sketch, to record the parts that should sound human in the album's canonical edition.Declarar la máquina es parte de la obra, porque la máquina es de lo que trata el disco.
